Inventer of Egg McMuffin Dead at 89

(UPDATE:  I just noticed this post is the topic of Genealogue Challenge #123 - see if you can answer the challenge)

Herb Peterson, inventor of the Egg McMuffin, died Tuesday at 89.  I never knew there was anyone in particular who invented these McDonald's food items.  I guess I thought they were churned out by a Egg_2 committee or something - it's nice to know there are individual people behind some of these things.  McDonald's was a very popular place in our house when our kids were younger.  In fact my kids consumed so many Happy Meals in their younger years I thought we would have to move to gain space for storing all of those cheap little toys inside every bag.  We still have boxes of those things because my kids never want to throw anything away.

I have a confession to make...I love Egg McMuffins...I admit it.  They are one of the few items I eat at McDonald's.  I usually pick one up, along with a large coffee, a couple of times a week on the way to work.  When I was in college I ate them almost every day.  Whenever the Army deployed me, or when I was serving a normal tour overseas, the good old Egg McMuffin was one food item I missed the most.  Since I'm now thinking of it, and getting a little hungry, I might as well stop and grab one today - in honor of Herb Peterson of course.
