Court, Land, and Probate Records
This past weekend I was cleaning up the genealogy bookmarks in my Firefox web browser and found one
for the Maryland Historical Society site. I thought it was pretty good and decided to check out a few other state societies. Before I knew it, I'd collected links for the entire east coast and thought I'd share them here. The best of this group in my opinion were the New England historical societies with my favorite being Massachusetts because it had the biggest digital presence. Of note, I couldn't find an online presence for the North Carolina Historical Society. What follows is a list of links to these societies for you to explore if you wish:
Massachusetts Historical Society
Historical Society of Pennsylvania
Historical Society of Delaware
The New Jersey Historical Society
North Carolina Office of Archives and History - This is a state government site, but it was the nearest thing I could find.
New York Historical Society
The Connecticut Historical Society
Rhode Island Historical Society
New Hampshire Historical Society

I'm glad the post was helpful...I just did it on a lark and once I started I couldn't stop. Thank you for the link to Diigo! I have heard of it, but never explored the site, but now I will.

Thanks for the links! Several of them are states I'm researching and will be most helpful.
I've added all these links to the Genealogy Research Resources group at Diigo (http://groups.diigo.com/groups/gensource) so they are quickly available to everyone. Diigo - which is one of Family Tree Magazine's 101 best - is truly a researcher's best friend and much easier to manage than browser-based bookmarks. And, as you add genealogy links to your account, you're helping to build a grassroots directory for all of us.
